You can find information on the California Public Records Act (CPRA) on the California Attorney General's website. This document provides an overview, guidelines, and rights for accessing public records in California.
Additionally, you can refer to:
The California Government Code sections 6250–6276.48, which outline the CPRA’s provisions in detail.
Resources from the California State Legislature website, where you can view the full text of the law and any recent updates.
For practical guidance, cities and counties often provide summaries or instructions on their websites about how to make requests under CPRA.
How do I request copies of City documents?
Answer: Requests for easily identifiable public documents may be made in person in the City Clerk's Office and copies are made available at that time for a fee. However, more complex document requests must be submitted in writing. The City has 10 calendar days to respond and will advise the requestor, in writing, as to the availability of those records for inspection or photocopying.
