Gov. Gavin Newsom’s new podcast, launched to explore MAGA motivations and Democrats’ future post-2024 election losses, has left many confused. Both supporters and critics question his intentions, as his shift from Trump critic to engaging with far-right figures raises concerns about his leadership in California.

Republicans see his pivot as insincere, while Democrats worry about his mixed messages and shifting priorities. His avoidance of public events and unclear stances on key issues, like transgender athletes in sports, has fueled distrust among lawmakers. Sacramento politicians are uncertain whether to adjust their agendas, fearing potential vetoes.
Public response has been mixed, with Newsom’s approval rating dropping from 52% to 47%. Liberals feel betrayed, while independents are cautiously receptive. Progressive donors and activists worry he is undermining Democratic values, with some likening his approach to appeasement.
If Newsom aims for a political reinvention ahead of a possible presidential run, many doubt his podcast will help him build bipartisan credibility.
The "Citizen's Coalition" is not impressed by Newsom’s rebranding effort, viewing it as a self-centered political maneuver rather than a genuine engagement with us, the actual voters, both in California and beyond. We remain skeptical that he truly cares about the public wellbeing and see his podcast as a strategic move to position himself for a potential presidential run rather than addressing the pressing concerns of Californians. Newsom's place is the governor. He has an urgent job to do as our state is literally in shambles. Yet, he just wants to sit down and act like he is buddies with people? What a shame!!!
